Good WOW Leveling Guides and Bad Ones
What Are The Differences?
So you are looking for the right WOW Leveling Guide for your toon. Which one do you choose? On one hand, there's this one guide in particular that seems popular, but on the other than there's another, newer, lesser known guide that promises to get you from 1-20 in 20 hours. Do you pick the popular one or do you pick the lesser known guide?
The fact is that there are differences in the leveling guides, and it is especially true among WOW Leveling Guides. A lot of the good guides have detailed information about quests, including starting location, rewards and what to do with those rewards, not to mention focusing on helping you with your desired level growth; others won't have any of that information, and instead will just have a general guideline of what to do until you reach a certain point or level. Some will only tell you what creatures to grind and for how long. BORING!

A good WOW Leveling Guide is detailed – Having all the information, such as what items to keep, what monsters to hit (such as yellow mobs, for example), and what quests to take is important. Omitting some information (such as what items to buy from auction houses) could leave you at a disadvantage when compared to other players, and that defeats the entire purpose of a leveling guide.
A bad leveling guide is too general – Grouping all of the player types together at the beginning isn't good. It will be confusing and won't be very much fun. This is also true of later on, say when you are going from 20-30, as being too general might leave you wondering what to do next or if you're in the right spot to begin with.

A good leveling guide follows its own time line – If a guide says that it can level you from 10-30 in 3 days, it should be able to do that so long as you follow its exact instructions. Sometimes people follow guides but forget to do certain things, such as complete a quest or two, or perhaps they don't pay attention to the requirements of a specific area.
In most cases, following the guide exactly as it says will level you in the time line that it specifies.
A bad leveling guide doesn't note important items or events – The completion of a quest almost always yields money and items. A good leveling guide will mention these items and what they can be used for, either immediately or later on, and whether or not you should put them into a bank or sell them. A bad leveling guide will ignore all of those points, leaving you to figure it out on your own.
As a World of Warcraft player, make sure that you find a guide that meets your needs. Also, keep in mind that some guides use specific races and classes. For the most part, these guides will do exactly what they promise, help you level quickly and efficiently. However, you may have to make some adjustments for your class or race. The key is to find a guide that is easy to understand and clearly outlines what you need to do, what order to do it in and when to do it.
In the end, a WOW Leveling Guide will lower the initially learning curve, allowing you to enjoy the game, rather than spending all your time asking for help or searching Google for the next step. And isn't that the most important reason to get a leveling guide?
